OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The Project Engineer supports the planning, execution, and delivery of heavy civil construction projects for government, state, military, and private clients. This role is integral to field operations, providing technical and coordination support to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements.
Project Engineers play a critical role in maintaining AIS Infrastructure’s standards for quality, safety, and client satisfaction while contributing to a culture of collaboration and operational excellence.
YOUR OPPORTUNITY
The AIS West Project Team is seeking multiple Project Engineers, Office Engineers, and Field Engineers to support newly awarded projects across Texas, California, and Arizona, including roadway and drainage construction along the U.S.–Mexico border.
These projects are scheduled to begin in Q1 2026 and are expected to run approximately three years in duration. Each Project Engineer will be assigned to one project at a time, with opportunities to expand experience as new projects come online.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in developing and executing project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
Conduct site investigations, feasibility reviews, and assessments to evaluate project requirements and constraints.
Review engineering designs, specifications, and construction drawings for constructability and compliance.
Prepare work plans, work element plans, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory agencies to support project requirements.
Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Manage assigned engineering tasks to support adherence to contract requirements and project schedules.
Provide technical support related to construction planning, quality control, design interpretation, and resolution of field issues.
Support constructability reviews and document design conflicts and resolutions.
Develop and maintain required project reporting, including quality control logs and compliance documentation. |

Here's what you'll need
At least five years of experience in the Heavy Civil Construction industry
Knowledge and experience in quantity take-off systems and Primavera Scheduling software.
Ideally, You'll Also Have
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Construction experience combined with an Engineering degree.
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for access to secured facilities, including Government facilities with our company support team.
