    Job Description / Primary Objective  The Land Development Division performs advanced technical reviews of plans, specifications, studies, and reports for various infrastructure projects, including the construction, alteration, and maintenance of roads, storm drainage systems, sidewalks, bikeways, traffic intersections, signage, striping, and traffic signalization. This role involves reviewing both public and private improvement plans, such as street and capital improvement plans, ensuring compliance with city ordinances and with State Subdivision Map Act regulations. Additionally, this position provides engineering assistance to citizen committees and commissions and offers technical support to other agencies or departments as needed.

    This position will supervise the performance of, and/or perform Civil Engineering work, including work of above average difficulty and responsibility. In addition, will serves as a project engineer and group leader and performs related work as assigned.

    Newly-hired employees in this position may receive up to $5,000 relocation allowance for expenses incurred for the relocation of the employee and their immediate family to San Diego County. Additionally, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Eligible employees that make a successful referral will receive either 16 hours of leave or a referral payment of up to $3,000.

    Requirements (Education, Certifications, Level of Experience) Three years of experience in civil engineering involving one or more of the following areas: building construction, design, construction inspection, surveying, preliminary project planning, subdivision map/plan review, traffic operations and planning, or other phases of engineering related to public works in a municipality; and a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.

    Required Licenses or Certificates: Possession of a certificate of registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
    Valid California Class "C" Driver's License at time of appointment.
