Job Description / Primary Objective
|
The Real Estate Services Department is recruiting for a Construction Estimator-Project Manager* who collaborates with other the Project Managers and Supervisors to ensure project activities meet the project goal and deadline. Construction Estimators analyze construction documents and prepare preliminary and final construction cost estimates for capital improvements, project design, remodeling, and maintenance projects. This position exercises exceptional organizational and time-management skills in order to recommend, categorize, and prioritize projects and Capital Improvement Plan budget requests. In addition, the incumbent reviews and analyzes construction bids; performs on-site inspections; researches and maintains current information on construction and affiliated costs.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.

Requirements (Education, Certifications, Level of Experience)
|
Candidates must qualify under one of the following options:
Option 1
Experience: Two (2) years of project management experience preparing conceptual building/site plans and scope of project budget; conducting on-site inspections of project feasibility and cost estimates for commercial construction, remodeling/repair, or capital improvement projects. Public construction experience is preferred.
Option 2
Experience: One (1) year of project management experience preparing conceptual building/site plans and scope of project budget; conducting on-site inspections of project feasibility and cost estimates for commercial construction, remodeling/repair, or capital improvement projects. Public construction experience is preferred.
-AND-
Education: Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units in Project Management, Construction Management, Business/Public Administration, or a closely related field. A list of course work is required.
Note: Residential building experience is NOT considered qualifying.
